Dynamo midfielder Eric Alexander was taken as the fourth overall pick by FC Cincinnati in the MLS Expansion Draft on Tuesday. Alexander was one of 12 players that were available for selection on the Dynamo roster. The Dynamo will receive $50,000 in General Allocation Money as compensation for losing a player.
The midfielder has been in the league for nine years and played in 212 games. In 2018, he played in 21 games for the Dynamo, starting in all but one of them and played in two games during their Lamar Hunt US Open Cup title run. He scored one goal and had two assists last season in orange.
Cincinnati was able to select five players during Tuesday’s Expansion Draft. They made waves immediately trading the newly drafted Kai Kamara to the Colorado Rapids for an international roster spot.
