Christen Press will be playing with Göteborg in Sweden for the next couple of months the player and club announced on Monday. Göteborg released a press release on Monday stating that she would be playing for the club for the next three months. Press played for the Swedish club back in 2012.
I'm looking forward to joining my former club @goteborgfc and having a successful three months there. Upwards!

For reasons that are clear to me and for the betterment of my career I have chosen to play overseas this season. I respect and appreciate the opportunity that Houston afforded me. Thank you to everyone supporting me through these tough decisions I've had to make for my career.

For those wondering that’s over 5,000 miles from Houston where just a few short weeks ago everyone thought she would be spending the 2018 season. Press signing with a Swedish club doesn’t completely close the book on the Houston drama but it does press pause on it. The Houston Dash still hold Press’ rights in the National Women’s Soccer League. If the USWNT star want to return to the NWSL she will either have to do so in Houston or another NWSL club would have to trade for her rights. After her refusal to report to camp the Dash received offers for her but none of the offers were accepted by the team.
Where will she land after the three months is anyone’s guess, but for now she will be at Göteborg.
UPDATE
The Dash released the following statement on Twitter regarding Press “While we are disappointed in her decision and would have enjoyed having her talents here, we are comfortable with the outcome given the positive things happening around the club. We will retain Christen’s player rights in the event that she decides to return to the NWSL in the future.”
