Alejandro Fuenmayor suspended for two games

MLS Disciplinary Committee suspends Dynamo center back.

MLS: New York City FC at Houston Dynamo Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Alejandro Fuenmayor has been suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount by the MLS Disciplinary Committee. The decision comes after a serious foul play that endangered the safety of an opponent during the 14th minute of the Dynamo’s match against New York City FC. The center back was issued a yellow card during the game for his actions.

The suspension means that the Dynamo will be without Fuenmayor for Wednesday night’s game against Real Salt Lake and their Saturday, June 2 game against the Montreal Impact. The Dynamo are already thin along the back line due to injuries. Center back Adolfo Machado departed Houston after the game against NYCFC to join Panama for the World Cup.

Fuenmayor has made a big impact for the Dynamo defense as the weeks have progressed, making multiple key plays to prevent goals by opponents. He has started in seven of the eight games that he has played in this season. Though a defender has also scored two goals for the team this season.
