Houston Dynamo Add to Roster Ahead of Lamar Hunt Open Cup

Dynamo sign seven players to short term agreements, cut defender.

Wednesday night the Houston Dynamo face NTX Rayados in the fourth round of the 2018 Lamar Hunt Open Cup. The teams has signed several players from their USL affiliate Rio Grade Valley FC. They have also waived on player from their roster.

The Dynamo signed seven players to short term agreements to help bolster their roster for the game. They signed defenders Omar Ontiveros and Manny Padilla; midfielders Jesus Enriquez, John Montaño, Todd Wharton and Matías Zaldívar; and forward Aldo Quintanilla.

MLS clubs are allowed to sign players from their USL affiliates to short-term agreements of up to four days for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League, Amway Canadian Championship, and designated exhibition matches.

A club may sign a player to a maximum of four short-term agreements each season for a maximum of 16 days. Clubs are not allowed to call up players from their youth academy or USL player who are not signed to professional contracts.

In addition to signing the seven players, the Dynamo have cut George Malki. The defender has battled injuries since signing with the club in 2017.

The game kicks off at 7:30 pm CT.
