The Houston Dash announced on Thursday that they have signed Clare Polkinghorne. The deal is pending receipt of her International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 visa.

Polkinghorne joined Brisbane Roar FC, in the Australia W-League, in 2008 and was loaned to INAC Kobe Leonessa (Japan) for the 2014 season. She played for the Portland Thorns in 2015 before returning to Brisbane in 2016. Last year Polkinghorne became the first player in W-League history to play in 100 club games. She won two championships with Brisbane Roar during the 2008-09 and 2010-11 seasons.

The defender has 97 caps with the Australian National Team. As a member of the national team she played in both the 2007 and 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cups. She was a member of the squad in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup but did not play.

The Houston Dash are currently in seventh place in the NWSL. They are 3-4-5 after playing 12 games this season. The Dash play against on June 22 against the Portland Thorns.
