The Houston Dynamo host the Colorado Rapids on Saturday. This game will be the first time that the two will face each other this season.

The Dynamo are looking to rebound after a 1-0 loss on the road to the Montreal Impact. The Impact scored just before half time and were able to hold the lead until the final whistle. The Dynamo lost their mid-week game to Real Salt Lake prior to the weekend game against the Impact. They were able to fight back after going down a goal to make it 1-1 but gave up a late goal and left Sandy, UT with no points.

The Dynamo have been hit hard by the injuries this season. They had seven players out in the game against RSL. They have had to go to the bench to put together a starting back line and at times it has showed on the field. The USOC game on Wednesday was the first time that Philippe Senderos has played since suffering a hamstring injury weeks ago. This week they also cut George Malki who has battled injuries since signing in 2017. With the World Cup approaching they will also be without Adolfo Machado who is away with Panama.

Both teams will be on short rest after playing in the US Open Cup on Wednesday night. The two teams had very different results on the night. The Dynamo won 5-0 over NTX Rayados while the Rapids lost 2-0 to Nashville. The Dynamo had signed seven players from Rio Grande Valley FC to help fill out the roster. Many of the players, signed on short term contracts, saw action in the victory that included braces for Memo Rodriguez and Aldo Quintanilla.

The Rapids currently sit in last place in the Western Conference with just eight points in twelve games. The Dynamo have dropped to seventh place in the West after back to back road losses. The Rapids have one of the worst goal differentials in the league at -8. Both teams will want to secure three points before the World Cup break.

The game kicks off at 8:00 pm CT on Saturday.
