The Houston Dynamo had a rough weekend as they fell 1-0 to Minnesota United. They were on the road to face the Loons

They went to Minnesota without Alberth Elis who suffered a head injury after knocking heads with an opponent in the DC United game. Without Elis to create an attacked the Dynamo struggle to get the offense going. They were also without Ronaldo Pena who has a knee injury. With a weakened squad Mauro Manotas, Memo Rodriguez and Romell Quioto all started the game. However, they all struggled with the attack without Elis there to create.

It was the home team who would score the only goal of the game. Romain Metanire crossed the ball in from the wing and it took a deflection off Boniek Garcia. The deflection caused the ball to go off the goal post and into the net as goal keeper Joe Willis was unable to get a hand on the ball. While the goal was lucky it still counted and spelled a loss for the Dynamo.

oth teams had 15 shots in the game. The Loons had four shots on target while the Dynamo had two, each had only one shot on target in the first half. Houston won the lion’s share of possession with 58%.

With the loss the Dynamo held steady in fourth place in the Western Conference with the Loons hot on their heels just two points behind. Houston face rival Sporting Kansas City next Saturday, but fortunately they will place the hosts in that game.
