After yesterday’s 5-0 loss to Atlanta United, many fans were calling on ownership to do something, make some kind of change. If change is what you wanted, it looks like change is what you’ll get.
According to Mark Berman of Fox 26, and confirmed by David Nuno of ABC 13, Houston Rockets guard James Harden has joined the ownership group that controls the Houston Dynamo and Dash. Gabriel Brener is the majority owner of the group which also includes Oscar De La Hoya.

Can confirm report that James Harden has joined ownership group that runs the @HoustonDynamo and @dash- Maybe his visit with @Arsenal last week was for scouting purposes! I kid. Huge for soccer in this town. https://t.co/XFhGD1FO9A

While we await an official announcement from the club, fans will begin to speculate what this means for both teams. Will more money be spent on the rosters, on game day operations, etc? We will have to wait and see how involved Harden is with the team. As an NBA superstar and global superstar, he has quite a few obligations in other places but you can’t help but think this will be huge for soccer in Houston.
We will have more thoughts on this as the story develops.
UPDATE:
.@JHarden13 to acquire a 5% stake in the @HoustonDynamo/@HoustonDash that values the overall organization at more than $475 million.https://t.co/hQz1CcaOY3
