Toros give up late goal in a three all match

Going into the match, RGV FC needed three points to stay in the playoff hunt against the Colorado Springs Switchbacks. Instead they had a little goal fest.

The Toros fell behind in the 12th minute as Shane Malcom found the back of the net to give the Switchbacks the early lead. Colorado Springs pushed their advantage as Jordan Burt pounced on a loose ball that made it 2-0. RGV would respond as Michael Salazar scored a consolation goal that made it a 2-1 game. Kevin Rodriguez would equalize the match off a Isidro Martinez pass to make a two-all contest before the break.

In the second half, the Camilo Monroy was fouled just outside the box which set up a set piece opportunity. Andres Arcila scored his second goal of the season off the free kick that gave the Toros a 3-2 advantage. In stoppage time, the Switchbacks found a late equalizer off a Abdul Rwatubyaye goal that took two precious points away from the Toros.

What’s next for RGV FC

It’s a short road trip for another installment of the South Texas Derby which is now a part of the Copa Tejas against San Antonio FC. As of now the Toros still six points outside the playoff places. The game against San Antonio FC will be a decisive game as the Toros look to stay alive. Any negative result will dent the chances even further.
