The Houston Dash return to action on Saturday following a bye week and will be looking to make it two wins on the bounce as they host Sky Blue FC at BBVA Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM CT and the match will be aired on Yahoo! Sports.
Rachel Daly was at it once again for the women in orange in their last outing. Her late penalty pushed her to five goals on the year and proved the difference in a 1-0 result over the Orlando Pride in which the home side were given two red cards.
The Dash remain within striking distance of the playoff line and a win is vital in keeping their chances of making the playoffs alive with just seven fixtures remaining. At the moment, the gap between Houston and Utah in fourth is six points. Manager James Clarkson knows the importance of picking up maximum points down the stretch, particularly at home, and lamented the fact that his side have struggled thus far within the friendly confines of BBVA.
“We’ve got three games left at home and we really need to win them to give us any sort of chance really. Unfortunately, it’s been our home form that has let us down this year, so getting those three wins at home is vitally important.”
Meanwhile, Sky Blue come into Saturday’s affair on the heels of a 1-1 draw with Reign FC six days prior in front of a record crowd at Red Bull Arena. They currently sit bottom of the table with 13 points earned after 18 matches played, but their form has improved of late and they’ve taken four points from the last six possible.
Raquel Rodriguez leads the way for the visitors with three goals to her name this season. Goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan has been a busy bee with 59 saves, but it’s been Sky Blue’s offense that has really kept the side from performing better with just 13 goals scored.
Houston will be without defender Clare Polkinghorne, who has left the team due to family reasons.

This will be the third and final regular season meeting. The Dash will be looking to complete a season sweep of Sky Blue after they picked up a pair of 1-0 wins in the previous two meetings.
