Today the Dynamo announced the signing of another goalkeeper, this time inking former New England Revolution player Cody Cropper. Cropper, who turns 27 next month spent the last 4 seasons with the Revolution, making 102 saves in 36 matches for the club.

The goalkeeper spent six years in England prior to joining MLS in 2016. Cropper is a product of the Ipswich Town Academy and spent three season with Southampton FC. Cropper also spent time at MK Dons in the English Championship after his time at Southampton and made nine appearances during the 2015-2016 season.

Cropper led the U.S. Men’s U-23 squad to a third-place finish at the 2015 Toulon Tournament in France. He has spent time in USMNT senior team camp, most recently with current Dynamo teammate Christian Ramirez in 2017 for the annual January camp. Cropper has 21 caps with the U-20 Men’s National Team and 7 with the U-23 squad.

With the signing of Cropper, the Dynamo now have 26 players under contract for the 2020 season, including 3 goalkeepers. Cropper looks to be the backup to the other new signing at the position, Marko Maric. With Maric and Michael Nelson both having never played a MLS game, Cropper brings experience to the group. With Cropper’s addition, it looks likely that Nelson could begin the season at RGVFC.
