According to a report from Lester Gretsch of KXLN Univision, the Dynamo are showing interest in Costa Rican attacker Joel Campbell. Campbell is currently on loan at Club Leon in Mexico from Italian club Frosinone.
Fuentes en México me informan que @HoustonDynamo tiene su interés puesto en el costarricense @joel_campbell12, actualmente en @clubleonfc a préstamo del @Frosinone1928.

Campbell, who turned 28 this week, signed for English club Arsenal when he was just 19 years of age. Campbell started for Arsenal in the 2016 MLS All Star Game in San Jose. After spending 8 years at Arsenal, mostly out on loan, he signed with Frosinone. He was then sent out on loan again in 2019, to Club Leon.
Most notably to fans of the US Men’s National Team, Campbell was infamously involved in Matt Besler receiving a suspension in 2013 for what seemed to be a dive by the Costa Rican. Campbell has 93 caps for Costa Rica, scoring 17 goals, including one in Costa Rica’s 3-1 win against Uruguay in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
As Gretsch notes in his tweet, Alberth Elis’ future with the Dynamo is still very much up in the air. If Elis goes, the Dynamo will need another attacking threat and with a designated player spot open, Campbell could be the player to fill that hole.
