Houston Dash
Two steps forward, one step back for the Houston Dash in the NWSL Challenge Cup. As good as Houston looked in their last outing against OL Reign, when they earned a win and a clean sheet, they looked just as discombobulated against Sky Blue. The New Jersey team came in to the game against Houston without a goal in the tournament. In a game they should have won the Dash lost 2-0. Sky Blue won by multiple goals for the first time since 2017, with nine shots, six on target, and two goals. Instead of taking hold of second place in the standings, the Dash now find themselves tied with four other teams. Sunday’s game with the Washington Spirit is now a critical match to get back on the right track going forward.
Houston Dynamo
The Dynamo announced Thursday that TUDN Radio Houston have extended their broadcasting partnership through the 2022 season, making TUDN Radio Houston the Official Spanish Radio Home of the Dynamo. The three-year agreement begins this month with the Dynamo returning to action in the MLS is Back Tournament. 1010AM will carry every Dynamo match live during the tournament.
Alberth Elis is in Orlando with the team and set to make his return to the pitch as is key defender Kiki Struna. With Juan David Cabezas nearly back to form, Houston will restart the season with most of its squad healthy and ready to go.
The Dynamo kick off the tournament in arguably the toughest group and against one of the most dangerous teams in reigning Supporters Shield winners LAFC. First kick is slated for Monday, July 13th at 7:00 PM CT, airing on FS1.
