Houston Dynamo FC have gotten their draft day off to a rousing start, moving the number 3 overall pick to Colorado and acquiring midfielder Derrick Jones from Nashville SC.

Houston is sending $250K in General Allocation Money to Nashville in exchange for the Ghanaian born midfielder. Jones started his career in Major League Soccer with the Philadelphia Union in 2016. Nashville acquired Jones before they even joined in MLS, back in 2019 for $175K in General Allocation Money.

Jones, 23, has dual citizenship with the United States, having moved here when he was 14. He has represented the US at the Under-20 and Under-23 levels.

The Dynamo began the day with the number 3 overall pick but have now moved that to the Colorado Rapids in exchange for the number 6 overall pick and up to $250K in General Allocation Money. We should know what they do with that pick shortly.
