It is a busy week for the Dynamo as they return from taking a point in Frisco to take on Sporting Kansas City tonight. Houston goes back on the road this weekend to play Colorado so we could see some changes in the lineup for this mid-week match. Tonight’s match is available on QuestTexas channel 55 in Houston and on ESPN+ outside the local market. Here are three things to watch.
The Streak
Eight years ago today, May 12, 2013, the Dynamo lost their first match at BBVA Stadium and snapped an MLS record 36 match unbeaten run at home. The team that beat them that day? Peter Vermes’ Sporting Kansas City. Now in 2021, Vermes is still SKC’s manager, but this Dynamo team is very different from the team back then that nobody in Major League Soccer wanted to play in Houston. Can Tab’s Dynamo find a blast from the past to night to avenge that loss from 2013?
Different XI?
The first three games of the MLS season saw Tab Ramos use the same starting eleven and same five subs. In Saturday’s game in Frisco, we got to see a little different lineup with Maynor Figueroa and Derrick Jones added to the starting group. With tonight’s match being the second in five days and the middle of three in eight, we could see some players rested. Is this the night we get to see Mateo Bajamich? Will Jose Bizama and Christian Ramirez return as starters? Or might we even see a homegrown? We will be eagerly awaiting the lineup announcement around 6:30 this evening.
Race to Two

Houston has scored 4 goals this season (and an own goal) by four different players. Who will be the first Dynamo player to have multiple goals? Tyler Pasher is still questionable with an injury, but Maxi Urruti, Memo Rodriguez, and Fafa Picault will have a good chance, especially if the three of them start up front like they did against FC Dallas.
