The Dynamo return home tonight for a midweek match, in the middle of a busy week. After a draw on Saturday in Los Angeles, the Portland Timbers visit BBVA Stadium this evening. Tonight’s return home is a quick one with the Dynamo back on the road Saturday in Salt Lake City. The Dynamo and Timbers will air locally on QuestTexas channel 55 at 7:30 PM CT.

New era

Tuesday was a big day in the history of the Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash franchises. The Club announced Ted Segal as the new Majority Owner and Chairman yesterday at the Lexus Club in BBVA Stadium. Segal will attend his first home match as the Club’s Majority owner tonight.

“I’m going to throw myself into (making the Club successful) and work hard with both leagues to implement best practices, and all I can say is you have my commitment that I will be an active and involved owner in giving our organization the resources it has to succeed,” said Segal.

Teenage dream

The long awaited signing of Teenage Hadebe has finally happened with the Club announcing the signing of the new Designated Player yesterday. The good news for Dynamo fans, it looks like Ted Segal is a hands-on owner from the start, before he was even officially the boss. “With respect to Teenage Hadebe, I would say that I was involved. I was consulted with (Dynamo General Manager and SVP) Matt Jordan and coach (Tab) Ramos, and I would say that that is an example of how I intend to be involved. I am not going to be the guy who is selecting the 11 men or women to take the pitch, but I’m going to defer to the experts and their expert input and in collaboration with them give them the resources in this case, Teenage, to succeed on the pitch.”

Strong at home

Houston will look to stay unbeaten at home and pay Portland back for a loss earlier this season in Oregon. Portland is coming off a 2-1 win against Sporting Kansas City on Saturday and beat the Dynamo by the same score in April. The Dynamo also look to snap a three-game losing streak against the Timbers that began in June 2019. Houston’s last victory in the series came at home with a 4-1 victory on September 15, 2018. The Dynamo enter the game with a 4-0-4 record against Portland at home.
