It has now been made official. The Houston Dynamo announced they have acquired Honduran midfielder, Luis Garrido.

It has been speculated for a couple of days, and as the rumors hit yesterday evening pinning down the rumored player as Luis Garrido. The player joins Houston Dynamo upon finalization of his visa.

Head Coach, Dominic Kinnear stated, "I think he is a good player. He has a good amount of bite in the middle of the field, good energy and is a good passer of the ball. We have watched him for a few years in the CONCACAF Champions League and World Cup qualifiers, and he showed well in the World Cup. We think he is a player that will fit in with the way we play and it a good opportunity to bring him here."

"I'm excited to add our second World Cup veteran to the club in the last two days. We think Luis will be an important player for us. With Brad, Boniek, DaMarcus, Rico and Luis we now have five players with World Cup experience in the midfield," Chris Canetti said.

The Houston Dynamo twitter account made it official:

Luis Garrido Scouting Report

When Chris Canetti told Houston Dynamo fans he would be bringing in a second World Cup player to the midfield, fans feverishly began to comb the suspects. According to the report, the new Houston Dynamo played all three World Cup games for his nation. This narrowed down the suspects greatly, as it had to have been a team eliminated in the group phase. The pool of likely suspects got even shallower considering the midfielder had to have started all three games.

23 year old Luis Garrido started two of three matches for Honduras, who was eliminated during their group phase. Though young, he has already received at least 15 caps for the Honduran National Team. He stands at a stocky 5’6 and 165 pounds, making him only slightly taller than Corey Ashe. Garrido specializes in defensive mid, where he assumedly would be bolstering Ricardo Clark, still on the rebound from a concussion. Before coming to the Dynamo, Garrido played for Club Deportivo Olimpia, winning 5 titles in the last six seasons.

For Honduras, Garrido plays primarily in a flat 4-4-2 formation slotting in next to another center midfielder. He is sound defensively, and he is quite athletic. Initially, it is suspected he will pair with Ricardo Clark in the center of the pitch offering a secondary pivot point for the offense on the left side of the pitch, replacing Warren Creavalle who was traded to Toronto FC earlier in the week.

In joining the Houston Dynamo, Garrido would be teaming up with fellow Honduran National Team players Boniek Garcia and Alex Lopez.

Editor's Note: Yes, Canetti may have misspoken when he said on Glenn Davis' Dynamo All Access show that the second player signing had started all 3 matches for his national team.

These reports are unconfirmed, but we're seeing leaks from Honduras media that the second Houston Dynamo player signing will be Luis Garrido.

Take these with a grain of salt, for now. These aren't confirmed in the traditional sense, thus still just rumors. Still, they hold merit, and the player fits the profile offered up by Chris Canetti last night on Glenn Davis' show.

You can't put too much stock into tweets like this, but I can also say I've heard a couple of other confirmations. None of them have been solid confirmations, more just "that's what I've heard" type things.

My money is on Roger Espinoza as he fits the bill from the Honduran National Team, and has ties to Major League Soccer previously. He is one of few players not truly tied down by a recent signing to another league or team. What say you Dynamo Theory readers?

When the Houston Dynamo were able to officially announce DaMarcus Beasley had signed with the team on a Designated Player contract, they also made it clear the moves were only beginning. Team President, Chris Canetti, continued to elaborate in an interview on Glenn Davis' Dynamo All-Access on Yahoo Sports Radio 1560AM.

Glenn Davis asked Chris Canetti to comment on the rumor the Dynamo might be adding another player that has World Cup Experience.

Chris Canetti's reply was golden, "Yeah, that rumor is true. It is real. We are indeed in late stages of discussions with another player. That ties into the Warren Creavalle trade. We didn't just trade Warren to move up and get the allocation slot for Beasley. We cleared him because we needed salary cap room for a secondary move. The player we are talking about would be a midfielder in the center of the park where we would've seen Warren playing minutes for us going forward."

He continued, "we're trying to finish it off, Glenn. He's a player that is on his country's national team. His country was in the World Cup, and he started all three games for that country in the World Cup."

He also mentioned they would be working all through the night to try and get the deal done as quickly as possible.

So what we know now is this rumored player STARTED all 3 matches in the World Cup at center midfielder for his country, which could mean central defensive midfielder or central attacking midfielder. This means the team is one of the 16 to be knocked out in the group stages, which helps us narrow down a little bit the possibilities quite a bit.

I will let you internet sleuths do the roster digging and comment on who fits the bill from the 16 teams knocked out in the group stages, and then maybe on who you think might actually fit the team.

If you want to listen to the whole radio show, head over to Glenn Davis' Yahoo Sports 1560AM podcast page. The interview begins around the beginning of the second hour, and the juicy bits above hit at around the 5:30 minute mark.

DaMarcus Beasley may not be the only move the Houston Dynamo are working, with Darrell Lovell now adding the Dynamo are in advanced talks to bring in another player from the 2014 World Cup.

Well, we said there'd be more moves, and it looks like Darrell Lovell has offered up some hints that the Houston Dynamo aren't done once they land DaMarcus Beasley.
